MCA Reaffirms Commitment to Educational Outreach and Keeping Doors Open to theCommunity

SANTA CLARA, CA — August 19, 2026

The Muslim Community Association (MCA) is deeply concerned by a recently filed lawsuit challenging a local public school’s educational visit to our mosque. Treating students’ exposure to ordinary Muslim faith and practice as inherently
coercive or threatening risks reinforcing the very Islamophobia and misunderstanding that educational engagement should help overcome.

MCA has a long-standing tradition of welcoming students, teachers, neighbors, and people of all faiths who seek to learn about Islam and the rich diversity of our community. We believe that mutual understanding, rather than fear, builds a stronger and more connected society. Our faith teaches: “We have created you from male and female and made you nations and tribes that you
may know one another” (Quran 49:13). That core commitment has not changed.

Visitors to MCA have the opportunity to learn about our faith, ask questions, and observe our community as it practices its traditions. Learning about a religion is not the same as being asked to practice it, and we remain proud to provide opportunities for our neighbors to better understand their Muslim community.

We take the safety, comfort, and well-being of every guest seriously and strive to provide a welcoming, respectful, and enriching educational environment. Our doors remain open to our community, just as they always have.

We are also troubled by the broader message this type of lawsuit sends. Casting ordinary religious life as something sinister doesn’t just mischaracterize our community — it can put us in the crosshairs of those who wish us harm. We ask the public and press to weigh that risk as this case moves forward.

About Muslim Community Association (MCA):

needs of the Muslim community in the Bay Area while promoting interfaith dialogue,
