The Dawah & Outreach Committee hosted Break Fast With A Muslim on Sunday, March 1st at MCA. This special event was designed to warmly invite our broader Santa Clara neighbors, friends of different faiths and backgrounds, to experience Ramadan in a personal and meaningful way. Through a targeted social media campaign, we reached individuals across the bay area and invited them to try fasting for a full day or even half a day, then break fast together. More than 40 guests attended. Some came alongside Muslim friends, while many arrived on their own, curious, open, and ready to learn.
The evening was simple yet powerful. Guests were welcomed, seated at tables hosted by members of the Dawah & Outreach team, and introduced to the meaning of Ramadan and fasting through a short presentation. What followed was exactly what the event was designed for: authentic conversation, thoughtful questions, shared stories, and a meal enjoyed together in a warm, welcoming space. The impact was immediate. Guests expressed gratitude for the opportunity to engage beyond headlines and assumptions. One attendee shared: “I feel a bit less ignorant about some of the basic beliefs and appreciate the opportunity to be better informed. Seeing the facility and observing a prayer was enlightening. Thanks to all the speakers and the meal was delicious too!” Another guest was so moved by the experience that they made a donation to support the masjid.
Events like these remind us that sometimes the most powerful form of outreach is simply opening our doors, sharing our tables, and allowing space for genuine human connection.
