It Takes A Village: Security, Cleanliness, and Our Masjids

MCA has always been a leader among Islamic organizations, and we continued this responsibility by hosting a Security and Safety bootcamp for all Bay Area Masjids on Sunday, 12/7/2025, at Maryam Hall.

The training was eye-opening, very informative, and helpful for everyone who attended. We also hosted this training for our community, and we will be hosting another security and safety training for volunteers and MCA staff soon. If you are interested in joining, please stay tuned for our next Bootcamp.

As a community, we must take security and safety seriously. This is everyone’s responsibility, not only staff or volunteers.

  • Parents must supervise their children under the age of 13 at all times.
  • Children should not be running around unsupervised inside or outside the masjid.
  • Shoes must be placed in the shoe racks to keep hallways and exits clear and safe.
  • We also need to make sure our masjid is clean. The masjid is not a place to eat or drink inside the prayer halls. We must take care to maintain the bathrooms and playgrounds and leave them clean for the next person.

When we do not respect these spaces, it affects everyone in the community.

Every masjid is the house of Allah. As parents, we must teach our children at home how to behave in the masjid and explain to them masjid etiquette, respect, and responsibility.

Allah says in the Qur’an:

“Allah loves those who purify themselves.”

Surah Al-Baqarah 2:222

The Prophet ﷺ said: Cleanliness is part of faith.”

Sahih Muslim 223

He ﷺ also said: Removing harm from the path is a charity.”

Sahih Bukhari and Muslim 2989

Safety and cleanliness are part of our deen and part of our iman.

It is very important for all Bay Area Masjids to work together, support each other, and have one united approach to safety. When we work together, we protect our communities more effectively and strengthen our unity as one ummah.

Insha’Allah, MCA will continue to lead, support, and assist masjids with their security and safety needs.
