New Muslim Recap

Alhamdulillah, this Ramadan was a special one for the convert community at MCA. We have been blessed to see continued growth in convert programs, events, attendance, and shahadas.

Since January 1, MCA has witnessed 30 shahadas, a record and a powerful sign of how important it is to build a welcoming space for those embracing Islam and those curious to learn more. This Ramadan, we hosted the New Muslims Iftar with over 200 registrants, an Open House with 400+ attendees, Break Fast with a Muslim, a Convert Sisters Social & Iftar, at-home iftars for new Muslims, and a special iftar for non-Muslim therapists seeking to better understand and support Muslim clients.

In a place like Silicon Valley, and more broadly in the West, the importance of community cannot be overstated. For those embracing Islam and for those curious about Islam, it makes all the difference to find a welcoming space, sincere relationships, and a community that helps people feel seen, supported, and connected. This is part of what MCA continues to strive for: not only opening the door to Islam, but helping people feel that they have a place within the family of Islam.

Hamid, our Outreach Director says, “Looking ahead, one of the next major goals for MCA Dawah & Outreach is to send a group of converts to Umrah for their first time, insha’Allah.” To learn more or support this effort, please reach out to Outreach@mcabayarea.org.
