Over 200 Latino-Hispanic Converts and Family Members at MCA This Weekend
The MCA Dawah & Outreach Committee was blessed to host “My Latino-Hispanic Heart is Muslim” in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. The event featured Jaime Mujahid Fletcher, founder of IslamInSpanish, who flew in from Texas to deliver an inspiring keynote titled “Islamic Roots: Embracing Islam Without Losing Identity.”
The evening opened with welcoming remarks from Brother Hamid Waziri, MCA Outreach Director, and Sister Norma Perez, MCA Chair of the Latino-Hispanic Committee, who addressed the audience in both English and Spanish. The keynote talk was presented entirely in Spanish, with live AI-powered translation displayed on-screen making it accessible to everyone in attendance.
Over 200 participants filled the hall, including many non-Muslim family members of Latino-Hispanic converts. One father expressed his admiration:
“This event confirmed what I’ve always felt about Islam, it is a beautiful faith that promotes love, appreciation of life, family, and spirituality.”
The program concluded with a community potluck and dinner, followed by a heartfelt convert panel discussion. The highlight of the evening came when a sister, deeply moved by the experience, embraced Islam and took her shahada on the spot, marking a truly blessed moment for all in attendance.
