A cornerstone of the Prophetic model of leadership is the preservation of trust (Amanah) and the pursuit of excellence (Ihsan). As your Board, we carry the heavy responsibility of safeguarding this institution. In practice, this means maintaining uncompromising standards of governance, cohesion, and active service, even when it requires navigating difficult transitions.
We are writing to inform you of recent changes within our leadership team that have resulted in the departure of three board members.
Recent Board Transitions
Leadership at the MCA requires continuous alignment with our operational standards, a shared vision for the community, and an unwavering commitment to the responsibilities of the role. When circumstances prevent these rigorous demands from being met, transitions become necessary to protect the operational health of the organization.
Recently, two board members made the decision to resign from their positions. In a separate instance, following careful consideration and strict adherence to our constitutional due process, the Board made the necessary decision to remove a third member.
Every decision made during this period was driven by a single objective: to ensure the Board can function cohesively, effectively, and in the absolute best interest of the MCA. While we are committed to organizational transparency, we are equally bound by Islamic Adab (etiquette) to avoid public dispute and preserve the dignity of all individuals who have served. Out of professional and personal respect, we will not discuss the specifics of these individual matters publicly, nor will we engage in speculation.
Moving Forward Together
Our focus remains firmly on the future and ensuring uninterrupted service to our community. We are pleased to share our immediate next steps:
-
Filling Vacancies: We have already filled one of these vacancies through an interim appointment to ensure continuity in our vital work.
-
Call for Recommendations: We view the governance of the MCA as a collaborative effort rooted in Shura (consultation). As we look to fill the remaining vacancies, we welcome your recommendations for qualified, dedicated community members who can help us carry this Amanah forward. Please send your suggestions to jointboards@mcabayarea.org
-
Open Dialogue: If you have broader questions about our governance, policies, or strategic direction, we warmly invite you to email us to schedule time during an upcoming Joint Session of the Boards (JSB).
Thank you for your continued patience, trust, and partnership. May Allah (SWT) guide our decisions, protect our community, and grant us success in serving His cause.
Sincerely,
MCA Executive Board & Board of Trustees
