In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate
Dear MCA Bay Area Community,
It is with deep gratitude to Allah ﷻ and sincere appreciation for this community that I write to you as the new Religious Director of MCA Bay Area. I am honored by the trust placed in me and humbled by the responsibility of serving a community with such a strong legacy of faith, service, and commitment.
My journey to this point started out with a phone call from my grandfather in the summer of 2010, inviting me to visit him in Cairo and begin my studies of the Islamic Sciences. That simple phone call turned into a journey that would span continents and over a decade of learning, growing, teaching, and serving. It led to the attainment of a Masters Degree in Fiqh as well as a double major in Community Psychology and Educational Studies from the University of Washington.
I first visited the MCA in the winter of 2019. I remember being blown away by the sheer size of the masjid and community. I remember being welcomed by people who had never met me as if we were long lost friends that are reunited. I remember giving the khutbah and thinking about how massive the prayer hall is. From the first weekend at the MCA, I knew that I wanted to be here.
My vision for MCA Bay Area is rooted in a simple yet profound goal: to cultivate a community grounded in sound knowledge, sincere worship, and exemplary character. The MCA should not only be a place we come to but a place that shapes who we become. A place where you leave better than you came.
This role is not one I fulfill alone. True success comes through partnership with volunteers, educators, parents, elders, and youth alike. I am committed to listening, learning, and working alongside the community to ensure MCA remains responsive to its needs while remaining firmly anchored in our tradition.
The key areas that will be the focus of our work in the coming years will be:
- Strengthening religious education for all ages and levels, from foundational learning to advanced study
- Developing spiritually uplifting and intellectually engaging programs that are relevant to modern challenges
- Nurturing youth through mentorship, identity-building, and leadership development
- Supporting families with guidance rooted in Islamic wisdom and compassion
- Ensuring the masjid remains a welcoming space marked by mercy, unity, and respect
- Collaborating with staff, volunteers, and community leaders to build sustainable, long-term impact
I ask Allah ﷻ to grant us sincerity, wisdom, and unity in this endeavor. I look forward to growing with you, learning from you, and serving alongside you for the sake of Allah.
May He place barakah in our efforts and make MCA Bay Area a beacon of guidance and goodness for generations to come.
