UPDATE: October 27, 2025
Dear MCA Members,
السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ
Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh,
We pray that this message finds you in the best state of health and iman, insha’Allah.
On behalf of the Board of Trustees (BoT), we are writing to provide a strategic update regarding our Community Cafeteria Project.
The Board remains fully committed to enhancing our facilities and creating a vibrant hub that serves our members and strengthens our sense of community. The cafeteria continues to be a key component of that vision.
Following diligent efforts by the vendor selection committee, the Board entered into detailed negotiations with a shortlisted candidate. After a thorough due diligence process, we were unfortunately unable to reach mutually agreeable terms. Despite good-faith discussions, alignment on several critical lease and operational provisions—deemed non-negotiable for the long-term financial and strategic health of the Muslim Community Association—could not be achieved.
In keeping with our responsibility to safeguard MCA’s assets and ensure the sustainability of our operations, the Board of Trustees has determined that proceeding without full alignment would not be in the best interest of our community.
Accordingly, we have made the strategic decision to conclude the current process and will be re-opening the vendor selection. Here are our next steps:
-
Re-initiating the Selection Process: The Board will formally re-launch the search for a cafeteria partner who shares our vision and can operate within a sustainable, mission-aligned framework.
-
Forming a New Committee: A new vendor selection committee will be established to manage this refreshed process, as outlined in our Constitution.
-
Interim Cafeteria and Seating Options: While this process is underway, the Board of Trustees (BoT) will work with Facilities to ensure alternative food and seating options are available during key times, such as Jummah prayers.
We are confident that this careful and deliberate approach will lead us to the right long-term partner for our community. The Board sincerely appreciates your patience, trust, and continued support as we work toward the responsible growth of MCA’s facilities and services.
Please stay tuned for the upcoming Request for Proposal (RFP) details and timeline, which will be shared through our newsletters and official social media channels.
Since our cafeteria is currently unavailable, we’re excited to announce the MCA has partnered with food trucks starting this Friday after both Jummah prayers in the 3.0 parking lot (Alfred St. side). Stop by and support local halal vendors!
JazakAllah Khair,
MCA Board of Trustees
