Speakers Bio:
Shaykh Azhar Iqbal is a Pakistan born Muslim scholar educated in both the
Islamic and western traditions. He holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of
Pennsylvania and began a Ph.D. program in Economics at New York University prior to
returning to Pakistan to pursue his study of the Islamic sciences and graduated from
Wifaq-ul-Madaris Al-Arabia, Pakistan with an authorization (Ijaza) in the Islamic sciences.
For over a decade the Shaykh has been actively engaged in Dawah activities delivering l
ectures at different mosques, educational & professional institutions in Pakistan. He has also been traveling to countries like US, UK, South Africa, Zambia and UAE for dawa activities.
The Shaykh has founded an institute for traditional Islamic Learning called Hidaya
Academy Karachi which is making it possible for professionals and students of secular
education system to study full fledge Aalimya (8 years) program. Other than administering
the academy as Principal, the Shaykh also teaches different courses including Fiqh and
Tafseer.
