Our Vision
To enrich people with informative literature and other sources of information pertaining to Islam and to help them grow spiritually and mentally as life-long learners.
The Muslim Community Association Library
The MCA Library is an invaluable resource provided free to our community. We welcome and support people of all ages to come, sit and enjoy reading and lifelong learning. We understand and pay special attention to the fact that people connect with library services from an infinite variety of backgrounds and circumstances. People come to library to improve their lives beyond home and work, and nourish their intellect. In order to provide free and open access to information, ideas and knowledge to better strengthen our community and its individuals' Islam, the MCA Library will strive to provide them with works they may have difficulty finding outside of the masjid and our community center.
The library has a rich collection of roughly 2000 books embracing a broad range of categories. Yet even as we celebrate the reopening of the library to meet our community's needs, we recognize the need to pursue its continual improvement, insha'Allah. To this end, we have set for ourselves the following goals.
- Increase the availability and diversity of foreign language resources
- Maintain open hours to best serve our community's convenience
- Showcase activities and events pertaining to issues of interest to our community, such as ethnic celebrations in collaboration with community partners
- Story times for children, by which to enlighten them with tales of our Prophet (PBUH), for instance, and other pertinent works to our faith
- Build collections of high-demand popular and informational materials in a wide range of formats and in various languages
- Invest in efficient and effective data systems to connect people with library materials
- Help patrons locate information and materials by organizing them with care and thoughtfulness
- Support literacy drives and other programs both within the MCA and in the greater community at large to help develop and maintain our patrons' reading skills
