MCA Special Needs Support and Services

Asalamwalaikum,

MCA would like to bring awareness and include families and individuals of disabilities and special needs in our community.

In order to cater to the special needs of our community members, MCA is pleased to collaborate with two organizations:

1)    MUHSEN: A non-profit organization co-founded by Omar Suleiman which focuses on helping individuals and families with disabilities or special needs access the Masjid.

To learn more about MUHSEN please visit: www.muhsen.org

2)    Parents Helping Parents: A parent lead local organization that provides various workshops and support services for families who have children with special needs.

In order to understand the needs of our community members, we request all persons with disabilities or special needs or their family members fill out a survey.   All responses are confidential. Please forward the survey to other community members. Your completion of this survey will help us understand special needs and create programs.

The Bay Area Muslim Mental Health Professionals is a network of Muslim-identified mental health providers and students whose focus is to link the local Muslim community with psychological support and resources. Our network includes licensed Muslim psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and marriage and family therapists, among more. Our combined specialties include but are not limited to parenting support, depression, anxiety, youth issues, substance use, trauma, marital and pre-marital counseling, personal development, and more. We understand that seeking psychological support can be a big step, and that it is important for many to feel that their counselor is mindful of their religious and cultural background.
