The Executive Committee of the MCA, in its meeting on Tuesday, August 28, 2007, has unanimously decided to adopt the joint Fatwa of the Fiqh Council of North America (FCNA) and the European Council for Fatwa and Research (ECFR) related to the permissibility of the use of calculation method for determining the beginning of the months of Ramadan and Shawwal.

Br. Naziruddin Ali passed away Friday Dec 1, 2006 in Chicago leaving behind a grief struck community of family and friends. He had a life long association with ISNA and its predecessor MSA.

Alhamdulillah, Allah SWT will insha’Allah bless us with Ramadan once again. At MCA we are hard at work to make this Ramadan a profound spiritual experience for all of us.

The Fiqh Council of North America and the ISNA Majlis Ash-Shura after careful research, deliberations and discussion has adopted a new position regarding the determination of the beginning of the Islamic lunar months.

We're looking for three volunteer doctors (all specialities) to provide care to the needy patients/members of our Community that does not have medical insurance. The Clinic is currently open on Saturdays and Sundays for two-three hours.

As we witness the outrage in the Muslim world over the derogatory depictions of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), we are dismayed at the level of violence being perpetrated. Islam condemns acts of violence and preaches tolerance, compassion and forgiveness. The cartoons initially published in a Danish newspaper were viewed as intentional defamation of the prophet and an attack on Islam. These cartoons come on the heels of other events that have vilified Islam and Muslims.

The new MCA Executive Committee (EC) will take over on the 1st of Muharram, 1427 H (around January 31, 2006). The new EC includes 3 new members, and some members have switched positions. The EC members and their positions are: Razi Mohiuddin (President), Mohammed Nadeem (Vice President), Othman Asad (General Secretary), Azfar Qureshi (Treasurer), Ejaz Anam (Publications Secretary), Farah Rahbar (Women's Representative), Edgard Sammour (Social Secretary) and Munther Qtaish (Dawah Secretary).

MCA Membership for Hijri Year 1426 is now open. MCA membership is for the Hijri Year - from the 1st of Muharram to the end of Dhul Hijjah. This year, the period is from February 10, 2005 to about January 30, 2006.

The Muslim Community Association of the San Francisco Bay Area (MCA) today called on our administration to conduct an in-depth investigation of the prisoner abuse scandal in Iraq.

Thank you very much for bringing to our attention the difficulty you are experiencing for parking in your facility on Fridays. It is indeed disturbing to learn that some of our visitors are parking in your parking lot.

On Fridays your visitors are parking on our property, Located at 3130, 3140 and 1900 Duane (Gold's Gym location) that is clearly marked private and with tow signs that have been approved by the Santa Clara Police Department.

The MCA Executive Committee would like to solicit bids from interested parties to rent the MCA Bookstore to sell books, gift items, Islamic art, school supplies and other items.

MCA EC is responsible for appointing a member of GIS Board for the upcoming year according to the GIS Bylaws,. EC is soliciting nominations for this position from the community members.

With the beginning of the new year the Executive Committee is soliciting nominations for all committees to run the day-to-day operation of MCA. List of the committees is given below.

The election for 2 (two) positions on the GIS Board of Directors will be held inshaAllah on Friday, March 12, 2004at the MCA Islamic Center 3003 Scott Boulevard, Santa Clara between 7:30 PM and 9:30 PM, PST. The results of the election will be announced on or before Sunday, March 14, 2004, 8 PM, PST.

The Executive Committee and the Board of Trustees gave a presentation about the progress made last year and the plans for the upcoming year. A detailed annual report (available from the General Secretary) was presented and accepted at the meeting.

The Muslim Community Association condemns the arson attack on the Orthodox Church of the Redeemer in Los Altos Hills, California. We extend our sympathy and support to the parishioners of the church. Houses of worship are sanctuaries that must be respected and protected from acts of hate.

The MCA Election Committee has been reconstituted with the following members: Dr.Mohammed Nadeem, Tahseen Adeeb and Adel Elkadi. Some of the members of the previous committee were not members of MCA as required by the constitution.

The election for 4 (four) executive committee members for two years and 1 (one) board of trustee member for three years of the Muslim Community Association (MCA) of San Francisco Bay Area, for the Hijra Year 1425 (2004-2005) will be held on Saturday, February 07, 2004 at the MCA Islamic Center.

The MCA Executive Committee has appointed a three member Election Committee as required by the MCA Constitution to administer the upcoming MCA elections.

Br. Mamadou Ibrahim, the General Secretary of the MCA Executive Committee has resigned effective November 30th for personal and family reasons.

The outgoing Executive Committee of the MCA appointed an Election Investigation Committee on March 2nd, 2003 to investigate the recent MCA elections.

The following excerpts are compiled from Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) Muslim Community Safety Kit.

The Executive Committee has selected a chairperson for most of the 24 committees. The chairperson and the EC liaison will be talking to all nominees and will be selecting members of each committee over the course of the next week or so. Each one of the volunteers should be contacted shortly.

The Executive Committee has written up a document describing the various options and is getting the opinion of various Shuyukh's and other Muslim leaders to determine the best time for the two-shift Jummah at the MCA Islamic Center.

The outgoing Executive Committee dissolved all existing functional and ad hoc committees and gave the opportunity for the incoming Executive Committee to appoint members to these committees. The existing committees will continue to work for 30 days, or until a new committee is reappointed. This 30-day period expires on Safar 1st, 1424 or April 3rd, 2003.
