MCA-EC and MCA-BoT Elections Announcement
For Hijra Year 1425 (2004-2005)

Dear MCA Members,
Assalamu Alaikum,

The election for 4 (four) executive committee members for two years and 1 (one) board of trustee member for three years of the Muslim Community Association (MCA) of San Francisco Bay Area, for the Hijra Year 1425 (2004-2005) will be held on Saturday, February 07, 2004 at the MCA Islamic Center 3003 Scott Boulevard, Santa Clara between 6:00 PM and 10:00 PM, PST. The results of the election will be announced on or before Sunday, February 08, 2004, 8 PM, PST, inshaAllah.

Nominations for the election must reach the election committee no later than Monday, January 12, 2004. The final list of qualified candidates will be posted at the MCA Islamic Center, Masjid Al Noor, MCA newsletter and MCA Website on or before Friday, January 16, 2004. A candidate's forum (all nominated members) will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2004 at the MCA Islamic Center Scott Boulevard to meet with the Community members for a question and answer session. All concerned members of the community are highly requested to attend the session.

According to the section 1, 2, and 3 of the Article V of the constitution, 4 (four) executive committee members (3 male and 1 woman representative) will be elected for a two Hijra years term. And according to the Section 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 of Article VI of the constitution 1 (one) board of trustee member (male) will be elected for a three Hijra years term. The qualifications of the executive committee and trustee members are explained in the Constitution Section 4 of the Article V and Section 8 of Article VI respectively.

According to Section 7 of the Article XI of the constitution, in order to be eligible to vote at a General Body meeting or at elections, a member must have maintained his/her membership for an uninterrupted period of 60 (sixty) days immediately preceding the meeting. According to the Section 11 of article XI, if fewer than 25 (twenty five) percent members participate, the election committee shall seal the ballots and schedule a second election to be held on Saturday, February 14, 2004, 6 PM to 10 PM. There is no minimum participation requirement for the second election.

We strongly encourage you all to participate in this Hijri year election process, and we ask Allah (swt) to guide us rightly to carry out this important community responsibility with wisdom, Ameen.
