The Executive Committee of the MCA, in its meeting on Tuesday, August 28, 2007, has unanimously decided to adopt the joint Fatwa of the Fiqh Council of North America (FCNA) and the European Council for Fatwa and Research (ECFR) related to the permissibility of the use of calculation method for determining the beginning of the months of Ramadan and Shawwal. This decision is based on the feedback collected recently from the community members in several forums held at the MCA. On the basis of this position the dates of Ramadan and Eidul Fitr for this year are as follows:

• 1st of Ramadan will be on Thursday, September 13, 2007

• 1st of Shawwal will be on Saturday, October 13, 2007

For Eid Ul Adha, the MCA Executive Committee has also unanimously decided to adopt the Hajj/Makkah announcement and will celebrate Eid Ul Adha with the Hujjaj, inshaAllah.
