  Weekend Islamic School Guidelines  

The Weekend Islamic School has developed some responsibilities and guidelines to enable a smooth operation. The responsibilities are outlined below:


Parents’ Responsibilities:

  • Parents must ensure that their child reaches school on time.
  • Parents are not allowed to attend their child’s class unless they are a teacher’s aide or the child needs special assistance.
  • Parents must sign their child’s Homework Book every week and for all subjects.
  • Parents must volunteer at the school twice a semester in order to maintain their child’s enrollment at WIS.
  • Parents must check their child’s backpack or binder every week for homework assignments, handouts, announcements, etc.
  • Parents must make sure their child brings all the necessary supplies to each class, including the Homework Book, a pencil, notebook, binder/backpack, and textbooks.
  • Parents should make sure that they update their contact information with the WIS staff if it changes.



Teachers’ Responsibilities:
Class Operation:

  • Keep class in single-file line when walking to and from the classroom.
  • Return room to its original condition at the end of the class.
  • Take attendance during every class and keep a record of it. Inform Office Manager of any student with 3 consecutive absences or 5 unexcused absences.
  • Ensure that students bring all the supplies required, including books, binder, pencils, etc.
  • Notify the office if a student has lost his/her book.
  • Do not accept walk-in students unless they have a class assignment form or have authorization from the principal.
  • Take students to make wudu and pray dhuhr after third period.

Academic:

  • Prepare lesson plan ahead of time for substitute teacher.
  • Notify office at least 3 days in advance in case of absence.
  • Distribute report cards to students by the last week of the semester.
  • Submit grades to the office by the week following the last day of the semester.
  • Conduct parent-teacher conferences on the last day of class.
  • Comply with testing standards set out by academic coordinator, including distributing a syllabus and midterm progress reports, administering a midterm exam and a final exam, and issuing report cards.
  • Complete textbooks based on the schedule that the academic coordinator has outlined.
  • Assign homework every week and communicate the homework to the parents.
  • Notify parents regularly of their child’s academic performance.
